LGBTQ+ Victory Fund Endorses Doug Greco for Austin Mayor

National organization endorses Greco for Austin Mayor because he will be a strong voice for equality and working families when elected

Austin, Texas – Today LGBTQ+ Victory Fund – the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ+ people to public office – endorsed Doug Greco for Mayor of Austin. The endorsement signals Victory Fund’s confidence that Greco is well-positioned to win the mayor’s race and be a strong voice for working families and equality.  Greco would become the first openly LGBTQ+ mayor of Austin.

“LGBTQ+ Victory Fund is pleased to endorse Doug Greco for mayor of Austin,” said Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of LGBTQ+ Victory Fund. “As a former Texas mayor myself, I know that Doug’s proven experience and commitment to fighting for working families and protecting LGBTQ+ rights and the rights of all Texans make him the best candidate for mayor. Doug will also make history when elected, becoming the first out LGBTQ+ mayor of Texas’ capital city.”

LGBTQ+ people remain severely underrepresented in government nationwide – holding just 0.2 percent of elected positions despite representing at least 7.2 percent of the U.S. population, according to LGBTQ+ Victory Institute. As an out LGBTQ+ leader, Greco will be an unwavering voice for equality in Texas. His priorities in office will include education, workforce development, housing affordability, community safety, protecting the environment, and fighting back against state attacks on local decisions and civil rights.

Victory Fund will promote Greco’s endorsement among its hundreds of thousands of supporters nationwide. More information about Victory Fund can be found at victoryfund.org.
